The game is a build & battle strategy based on the famous Netflix TV show – Narcos. The story centers around the player working with Pablo Escobar to build their own Empire. By building & upgrading base defenses and producing units, the player grows into a powerful Kingpin capable of taking down even the strongest enemies in battle- including rival Kingpins.
During the Challenge, players can gain Pieces of Trash as a unique resource, mainly from victories over opponents on the global map as well as other sources. Each Piece of Trash earns the player Challenge points, and winners, depending on their position, receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze Hippo limited-time statue. The statue provides certain bonuses to protect their base in battle for the next 28 days. Pieces of Trash can also be recycled by spinning the Challenge Roulette to try their luck and win valuable Sicarios.
The activation aims to draw attention to the existing problem with the invasive species in Colombia, by reading more information about ‘Pablo Escobar’s Hippos.’ Engage with the deeper questions of conservation, such as the idea of dealing with invasive species like these Hippos not by hunting them down, but by reducing the population with non-invasive sterilization.
In addition to advancing players’ mindsets around waste collection with the Piece of Trash resource, planned in-game messaging via the news system will provide additional context about the real world wildlife issue, and links to learn more about conservation efforts.
