Now in its seventh year, the Green Game Jam showcases how the video games sector can deliver meaningful environmental impact while demonstrating the commercial value of engaging players through themed content that fits naturally into their favourite titles.
This year, 57 games are taking part in the Green Game Jam (GGJ) from countries all over the world demonstrating how the initiative is becoming more global with every edition. Returning games include Subway Surfers (SYBO), Angry Birds Dream Blast & Friends (Rovio) and June’s Journey (Wooga). They are joined, for the first time, by games from Korean based studio, Pearl Abyss as well as Mytona, PikPok and Runaway Play studios from New Zealand. Iconic titles such as Tetris (Playstudios), Lords Mobile (IGG) and Cards, the Universe and Everything (Avid Games) will also make their debut in the 2026 Green Game Jam.
Participating studios will create bespoke content, or “green activations”, which can consist of new modes, maps, events, storylines or metagame campaigns. These activations are designed to educate and engage players around important environmental themes or ecosystems, and aim to fundraise to support organisations tackling the issues highlighted through these themes..
“Year after year, the Green Game Jam proves that when the games community comes together, it can activate players globally to protect and restore our planet in new and creative ways,” said Lisa Pak, Head of Operations Playing for the Planet. “This is the most global line-up yet, we’re looking forward to seeing how this cohort of studios work to deliver for reefs and rainforests.”
The 2026 Green Game Jam content will begin rolling out in participating titles from 5 June 2026. For a full list of the 2026 Green Game Jam participants please visit: https://playing4theplanet.org/green-game-jam-2026
